MV Community Services Chicken Alley Thrift Shop will host its 16th annual Art and Collectibles Sale on Sunday, August 11th on the corner of Church and Main Street in Vineyard Haven. All proceeds from the sale benefit the programs and services of MV Community Services.

Due to the closing of Lagoon Pond Road for Beach Road Weekend, the sale will move from its usual location at the Shop on Lagoon Pond Road to the corner of Church and Main Street in Vineyard Haven behind Mikado restaurant and Cronig’s Real estate (76 Main Street).

Line placeholder numbers will be handed out starting at 7am and the Sale will begin promptly at 1pm.

“One of the greatest things about the Art and Collectibes Sale is being able to share the work of Island artists and artisans with the community.” Jess Tartell, Chicken Alley Thrift Shop Manager

The annual Art and Collectibles Sale, founded by volunteer and patron Olga Hirschhorn in 2002, has become one of the most anticipated summer events amongst Islanders and visiting collectors. On the second Sunday in August, the sale features a curated collection of local paintings, antiques, vintage items, collectibles, Island curiosities, and unique pieces selected from thousands of generous donations that the shop receives throughout the year.

Donations to the art show can be made to the Chicken Alley Thrift Shop at 38 Lagoon Pond Road until Thursday, August 8th. Donation hours are Monday through Saturday 10am – 3pm or by appointment. Call 508-693-2278. Scheduled pickups by the Thrift Shop will not be possible from August 5th – August 19th.

New art, collectibles and jewelry will be put out at the store throughout the week following the event at the store.

” I think the art show really reflects the prominence of the Martha’s Vineyard art scene while bringing in a large range of people.”
