Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) is a comprehensive multi-service agency that serves the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Volunteer Application

Family Support Center: Needs volunteers on an as-needed basis.
a. Volunteers would be available for support in set-up, help at registration desk, food dispersal, and
organization of events for the Family Support Center.

STEP: Volunteers needed to assist Students with online technical classes. Volunteers should have basic
computer skills and some knowledge of working with students with learning disabilities.



The Thrift Shop relies heavily on volunteers to help the store operate. Duties could include:

  • Pricing inventory
  • Organizing donations
  • Sorting books
  • Rearranging shelving

All ages and abilities welcome. Volunteering at the Thrift Shop is a great opportunity for parents and school aged children to volunteer as a team! Portuguese speakers are always welcomed and needed.

The Early Education and Care Center is looking for energetic and responsible individuals who are able to adhere to the policies and procedures of MVCS, Early Education and Care Center, and our Funders. A thorough and complete understanding, comprehension and practice of confidentiality is an absolute requirement. This experience will be most beneficial to individuals who are passionate about building a community based on safety, respect, and wellness. The Early Education and care Center volunteer position offers opportunities to receive excellent practical knowledge and firsthand experience supporting the Martha’s Vineyard Community.

Classroom Volunteer Duties

 Classroom Volunteers assist with daily activities. Specific tasks and activities include:

· Interacting, playing, and engaging with the children.

 · Supporting the interaction of a child with other children using toys, art supplies, and participation in classroom activities.

· Assisting the children with hand-washing, preparing for snack time, etc.

· Assisting the classroom teacher and teaching assistants with transitions between different segments of the class.

· Helping to supervise the children and keep them safe.

Classroom Volunteers operate under the supervision and guidance of MVCS teachers and teaching assistants at all times.
