Support groups can be psychotherapeutic, psycho-educational or supportive.

Caregiver Support Group
A support group for caregivers caring for a loved one with a physical illness or dementia. The group provides a forum for caregivers to meet and connect with others in similar circumstances. Group support and discussions include topics such as wellness, meditation, challenges, and joys of caregiving, reducing stress and increasing knowledge on caregiving issues and needs. Group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month 10:30am-12:00pm.

Immigration Resource Center
On the first and third Friday of every month, The Island Wide Youth Collaborative (IWYC) in partnership with the Immigration Resource Center of the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and the Islands brings expert legal advice to those on-Island needing help with immigration issues. An immigration attorney will be in the office from 9 am – 3 pm and is available to provide advice and assistance. Appointments required.

MV Family Center
The Family Center hosts parent support groups, family activities, and monthly parent-education events. View the Family Center’s calendar for a full list of current groups.

A non-traditional support group for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The group reads and discusses books with themes surrounding domestic and sexual violence, boundaries, interpersonal relationships, and family dynamics while promoting healthy relationships, empowerment, and self-care. The group focuses on themes related to healthy relationships and self-empowerment. Registration Required.

New Paths Support Group
New Paths is a program for adults who seek substance use support, and who may also experience co-occurring mental health disorders. The program includes a support group component (please note you must be enrolled in the program to attend the support group) – find out more here.
Transgender & Gender Non-Binary Support Group
MVCS offers a support group for youth and adults of all ages who identify as transgender, gender non-binary or any other of the multitude of identities on the transgender spectrum. The group meets Tuesdays from 5-6:30 pm at the Island Wide Youth Collaborative (on the campus of MVCS). Individuals interested in attending must contact group leader, Apryl, prior to attending.

Emerge is a skills and support group created to help girls cope with life’s challenges. The group uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help teach girls how to handle difficult emotions, build better relationships and be more present. Registration is required.

Veterans Support Group
Readjustment Counseling for War Veterans. Island Counseling Center offers focused individual and group services to returning war veterans. A support group meets weekly to discuss the challenges of reintegrating after the war experience.
