Vineyard Haven resident, Pro Windsurfing Champion, Four-time Collegiate Sailing All-American, and inaugural inductee into the Windsurfing Hall of Fame, Nevin Sayre once again successfully undertook the ‘Round the Vineyard Challenge’ on Friday, September 5, 2025, to support Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS).  Sayre was the first person to complete the arduous Vineyard Rounding on a wing foil last year to benefit MVCS.   Nevin, who completed the arduous challenge last year, is hoping to raise $55,000 in support of this year’s effort – $1000 per mile for his circumnavigation of the island.

The ‘Round the Vineyard Challenge takes place with wingfoiling, a new form of windsurfing that is distinguished by an underwater hydrofoil and a completely hand held “wing” (sail).

Sayre and MVCS have set a new goal to raise $55,000 in community support for his effort.   Sayre indicates, “100 percent of the sponsorships and support I receive will go directly to services and programs at Community Services. I hope the island will show a strong spirit of support for this organization that means so much to thousands of islanders.”

Nevin has done his part, but there’s still time to support him to reach his goal of raising $55,000 for MVCS.
