VINEYARD HAVEN, MA. (January 7, 2026) – Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) announced today that the Red House Peer Recovery Support Center will relocate from 12 Beach Road in Oak Bluffs to a modern, fully ADA-accessible facility in Building D on the MVCS main campus at 111 Edgartown Road in Oak Bluffs. The move, effective March 1, is designed to enhance recovery support, improve access, and ensure continuity of high-quality services and will accommodate increased membership.

MVCS extends its appreciation to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for its longstanding partnership in supporting the Red House at its Beach Road location. With membership and programming needs continuing to expand, the move to the MVCS campus allows the Red House to grow into a more spacious, accessible environment designed to meet the evolving needs of the Island’s recovery community.

About the Red House Peer Recovery Support Center

The Red House Peer Recovery Support Center serves people with a history of addiction and/or behavioral health issues who are in recovery, those who are seeking recovery, and their families and loved ones.  The Red House provides a safe space for those in recovery to be involved in activities of building recovery capital, peer-led support groups, employment, housing and educational supports, basic living skills training, wellness classes, and sober social recreational activities.

All services are grounded in basic recovery principles and are self-directed and empowering.  It is holistic, has cultural dimensions, emerges from hope and gratitude, involves community and most importantly is supported by others on the same journey.

New campus location

Beginning March 1st, the Red House will welcome visitors and members and family to its new home in Building D on the MVCS main campus at 111 Edgartown Road in Oak Bluffs, a centrally located, fully ADA-accessible spacewhich can better accommodate the increased membership.

Located adjacent to the Island Counseling Center, the new site will enable immediate, reciprocal referrals and open access to mental health services for Red House visitors, members and their families. Proximity to the YMCA also creates opportunities for futurewellness programming that supports the physical and emotional health of those in recovery.

Expanded facility features

The 2,400‑square‑foot facility will feature an expanded, dedicated reception area designed to provide a warm welcome and clear information to members and visitors. The enhanced large group activity room will accommodate increased membership and promote connectivity through expanded programming, including meetings, workshops, and recovery‑oriented social events.

Additional office spaces will support private meetings, one‑on‑one peer support, and small group activities that require a quieter setting. A more expansive, commercial‑grade kitchen will allow the Red House to host shared meals and expand on the success of the “Recovery Café”, fostering community and connection around the table.

Access, transportation, and partnerships

Improved parking and bus access at the MVCS campus will make it easier for Islanders from all towns to reach the Red House without added stress. The central Oak Bluffs location, near major year-round VTA bus routes and services, reduces transportation barriers that can prevent people from engaging in consistent recovery support.

Being co‑located with MVCS programs, including the Island Counseling Center and other behavioral health and family support services, will deepen collaboration and create stronger continuity for individuals seeking wellness and recovery.

MVCS Chief Executive Officer Dean Teague emphasized the importance of the move for the Island’s recovery community. “We are excited at these across-the-board upgrades for the Red House which will strengthen our ability to support Islanders making the journey to recovery,” said Teague.

The relocation reflects MVCS’s continued commitment to expanding accessible, inclusive recovery services for individuals and families across Martha’s Vineyard.
